Kinetics is a USA Gymnastics (“USAG”) Member Club. Kinetics’ gymnastics team members Levels 3-10 compete at USAG-sanctioned meets, including District qualifying meets, District Championships, South State Championships, Statewide Qualifiers and State Championships. District meets are held at facilities within our District 5 comprised of the greater Houston area. We also attend invitational meets and various skills meets throughout the year in the Houston area.

Kinetics’ competitive gymnasts are divided into skill levels based on skill mastery and mental preparedness. The regular competitive season for L3-6 gymnasts is August-December (the “Compulsory Season”) during which these gymnasts may qualify to a higher skill level. The regular competitive season for L7-10 gymnasts is January-May (the “Optional Season”) during which they may qualify to higher skill levels. L3-6 gymnasts may compete at various invitational meets during the Optional Season, as may L7-10 gymnasts during the Compulsory Season.

Kinetics Team gymnasts train under the instruction Head Coach Becky Dein, Coach Julie Dujka, and Coach Johanna Johnson.  Coach Becky is a former competitive gymnast trained under Bela Karolyi.  Her gymnastics achievements include Texas State Champion at Level 6 and USAG Regional Silver Medalist at Level 8.  She retired at Level 10.  Prior to joining Kinetics, Coach Becky owned a facility where she coached competitive gymnastics, and coached for 3 years in Houston.  Team Coaches Julie Dujka and Johanna Johnson are both former competitive gymnasts.

Level 2, also known as our PreTeam, is comprised of girls who exhibit a special interest in gymnastics, mental focus, and an inclination toward flexibility, coordination and strength. These girls work to master basic skills and build flexibility, strength and a solid gymnastics foundation utilizing the traditional women’s apparatus in preparation for future Team membership.

Team Levels 3-4 are comprised of girls, generally ages 4-10 years, who demonstrate an enthusiasm for gymnastics, mental strength, L2 skill mastery and a desire to compete. L3/L4 works together conditioning, building flexibility and mastering gymnastics skills required to perform routines on the traditional women’s gymnastics apparatus. L3/L4 masters routines specified by USAG for each level. These routines combine skill mastery, head and hand movement, element connections, grace and flow. L3 must be at least 5 years to compete. L4 must be at least 6 years to compete. They compete during the Compulsory Season and at invitational meets during the Optional Season. L3 competes for individual achievement only, not individual placement, nor as a team, generally. They compete for a score range, Achievement Award Ribbons, and All-Around Medals. No prior qualification is required for L3/L4 gymnasts to compete at a District meet, but a minimum score at a District Qualifier is required to enter a District Championship. L4 may compete for individual achievement or placement, and as a team. No minimum score is required to advance to L5.
